Boston Recovery + Nuun ENERGY Review

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind! Highlights include running a 400m leg in the Penn Relays Corporate DMR (4/25), hanging with Meb at NYAC, some days off, easy catch up runs with friends, visits to Dr. Kiberd, a trip to Philadelphia to cheer on Dad and Terry at the Broad Street 10mi run, attending Marisa’s PUXC/T&F Senior Day ceremony at Princeton, and an awesome Friends of Princeton Track dinner @ Tao… The list goes on! I am riding this Boston high for all it is worth!

It has been nearly three weeks since Marathon Monday, and I still find myself jotting down notes on both the race weekend and things I did differently during this particular training cycle. That list is long and growing, but one thing I keep coming back to is hydration. A mere six months ago I probably would have won the award for worst water drinker on the planet, runner or otherwise. I am not proud of this and I won’t go into the pathetic details; just take my word for it! Enter Nuun Hydration!* Nuun, pronounced “Noon,” was the first company to separate electrolyte replacement from carbohydrates. Before Nuun’s simple, self-dissolving, sugar-free tab, if you wanted electrolytes, the result was a bottle full of sugar. Nuun tablets have helped me work towards performance hydration guidelines. I have Nuun tablets stocked at work, in my apartment and in my travel bag. I don’t go anywhere without them! If Nuun wasn’t already a lifesaver, the company just introduced Nuun Energy which has added B vitamins and 40mg of caffeine (to the original Nuun Active Hydration product) taking their revolution of the sports drink to a whole other level! With my schedule, I cannot get enough caffeine BUT my stomach is a limiting factor. Prior to my Nuun discovery, I would occasionally spring for a sports drink (to attempt) to fill my hydrating liquid void, but had to be careful with stomach sensitivity, especially when combined with acidic and artificially sweetened caffeinated beverages. Nuun Energy is the perfect solution, not even taking into account the nutritional upgrade + HUGE cost savings it offers! I know I still have a lot more work to do on the hydration front, but have made significant progress thanks to Nuun. Now with Nuun Energy, I have no excuse to drink anything else!

*Although I received free samples of Nuun Active Hydration and Nuun Energy, I am not an official Nuun ambassador and these opinions are entirely my own.
